The Finca Las Moras Gran Shiraz has been awarded the best Shiraz in the Argentina Wine Awards 2010, securing the highly acclaimed Trophy medal. The competition saw 12 international Masters of Wine select 18 Trophy wines from 650 entries.

The UK’s number one Argentinian wine brand also walked away with a further 17 medals, including 8 silver and 9 bronze across its portfolio of wines.

'Intense, powerful, sweet and citrussy with lively spicy richness and apricot and peach fruit. Complex, viscous and intense with high acidity countering the sweetness, as well as some notes of pear and apple. Precise and spicy, with amazing intensity, almost like an ice wine in terms of the depth of flavour.'

You don’t need to be a fan of Sir Cliff to like this verdelho. Equally you shouldn’t let the connection put you off. His name is on the label, but it’s just a small scrawl – sorry, signature – on the back. It’s a full-bodied, zesty white with tropical lime-jelly and lime-marmalade flavours. Refreshing, but somehow comforting too. 13.5% abv.
